LAMBDA makes heat not burn devices that run on the same tobacco sticks as IQOS. The company is Shenzhen Original Technology, and it has no connection to Philip Morris International. These are not IQOS devices and they carry no IQOS warranty.

What they offer instead is control and battery life. Every LAMBDA model in our range lets you set the heating temperature and the session length yourself, which no IQOS device allows. Most of them also run 35 to 40 sessions on a charge, roughly double what an ILUMA manages.

Read this first: two different heating systems

LAMBDA sells two kinds of device, and they take different sticks. Buying the wrong one is the single most common mistake customers make in this category.

Induction models: i8, i9 and i10. These heat the metal element sealed inside SMARTCORE sticks, exactly as an IQOS ILUMA does. They take TEREA and SENTIA. They do not take HEETS, because HEETS have no metal element for an induction coil to heat. There is no blade, so there is nothing to clean.

Blade models: T3 and CC. These push a heating blade into the stick, exactly as an older IQOS 3 DUO does. They take HEETS, Marlboro HeatSticks, Parliament and Fiit. They do not take TEREA. The blade needs cleaning after use.

Some retailers advertise LAMBDA blade devices as TEREA compatible, or induction devices as HEETS compatible. Neither is correct. If you are not sure which sticks you have, TEREA packs are sold for ILUMA and HEETS packs are sold for IQOS 3 DUO and earlier.

LAMBDA i8

The i8 is our entry point into the induction range and the cheapest LAMBDA we sell. Aluminium alloy body with PPSU and PEEK internals, an LED display, and a 3200 mAh battery good for 35 to 40 sessions.

Temperature adjusts from 200 to 300°C and session length from three to six minutes. Six colours: black, grey, red, green, gold and white. Takes TEREA and SENTIA.

LAMBDA i9

Mechanically the i9 matches the i8 almost exactly. Same 3200 mAh battery, same 35 to 40 sessions, same 200 to 300°C range, same three to six minute sessions, same 83 g weight.

The difference is the screen. The i9 uses an OLED display rather than the i8’s LED, which shows temperature and session information more clearly. If you plan to actually use the temperature range rather than set it once and forget it, that readout is worth the small price difference.

LAMBDA i10

The i10 is the induction model built around finish rather than features. It uses a leather style exterior instead of plain aluminium, and comes in five colours that none of the other models offer: Brown, Green, Navy, Orange and Purple.

Internally it matches the i8 and i9. Induction heating, 3200 mAh, 35 to 40 sessions, 200 to 300°C, three to six minute sessions, LED display, 83 g, USB-C charging in about two and a half hours. TEREA and SENTIA only.

LAMBDA T3

The T3 is a blade device for HEETS, and it is the outlier in this range. Its battery is 1500 mAh rather than 3200, giving 18 to 20 sessions instead of 35 to 40, but it charges much faster at around 70 minutes.

Sessions run 5 minutes 30 seconds or 16 puffs. Instead of a full temperature range it offers two levels, standard and high. It has an automatic cleaning function triggered by five button clicks, vibration feedback, and an adjustable stick height setting. Bodies come in full aluminium or with a curved tempered glass panel.

Buy this if you use HEETS and want a compact device with fast charging rather than maximum battery life.

LAMBDA CC

The CC is the other blade device, and it is the one to pick if you use HEETS and want the bigger battery. It runs 3200 mAh for 35 to 40 sessions, with the same 200 to 300°C adjustable range and three to six minute sessions as the induction models.

Its titanium steel alloy heating blade is a replaceable part, which matters on a blade device. A worn blade does not mean a dead device, and that is something no IQOS model offers. The heating chamber is large enough to clean properly with the supplied brush, and the cap is magnetic. At 73 g it is the lightest LAMBDA we stock.

LAMBDA or IQOS

Worth being straight about the trade, because it runs both ways.

LAMBDA gives you adjustable temperature, adjustable session length, and roughly double the battery life of a comparable IQOS device. On the CC and T3 you also get a replaceable heating blade. If you have ever wanted a hotter draw, a shorter session, or two full packs between charges, that is what you are buying.

IQOS gives you official support, a warranty network, and a device that Philip Morris designed around its own sticks. LAMBDA has none of that. Using TEREA in a LAMBDA sits outside PMI’s stated compatibility entirely.

Neither is a health claim. Heated tobacco is not risk free either way.

What temperature should I use? 

Lower settings give a lighter, cooler draw. Higher settings pull more flavour and vapour. Most people try the range in the first week and settle in the middle.

Do the induction models need cleaning? 

No. Nothing touches the tobacco, so no residue is left behind. The blade models do need cleaning.
